History

Beginning in the late 1980s, a group of Shaw enthusiasts began meeting frequently to share Shavian scholarship at various North American locations. The gatherings became more numerous in the 1990s. In 2004, at a conference organized by Richard Farr Dietrich and sponsored by the University of South Florida, the group voted to incorporate, with R.F. Dietrich as the founding president, and the International Shaw Society was born.
